Just Call Him Miki

May 16, 2017

As promised in my “About Me” section, I would talk about my fiancé, Miki. Well, I’m not going to write a huge post about how we met and the things we went through, blah blah blah. We have time for all of that. I’m just going to do a quick intro:

Miki and I met 5 years ago. He is a couple of years younger than I am (Cha-ching! Jackpot!) and sometimes acts like it. He is originally from Bosnia. He has been here for about 13 years or so. We both have been married before and he has an 8-year-old son with his ex (his son is adorable) and I have a 21-year-old daughter along with a 22-year-old step-son (my ex’s son).

Blending families was actually quite easy for us. On my end the kids have been out of the house or almost out of the house since the beginning of our relationship. We have his son part-time and he is the easiest kid to be around. I think it helps that we get along with the mother. It wasn’t always like that but now it is second nature and easy.  Are any of you peeps step-parents or do your kids have step-parents and do you all get along? A girl wants to know!

Anyways, back to Miki: We have our little spats now and then. We did go through a pretty rough patch last summer (like shitty as shitty can be) but we worked through it and right now I have been quite happy and am enjoying our open communication. I do feel like we are in the “old marriage” type of phase where things are routine, but we do have our wild little moments that remind us we were once young 😉 I would love to hear how some of you keep the flame going in a relationship that is 5+ years going strong. Hope to hear from some of you soon. I posted a pic of Miki and I last year while on vacation in Maui, HI.

Until the next post!
